Legal advice in dental malpractice?

My wife had a failed root canal and had to have endodontic surgery for the 1 tooth. After the surgery which needed 20 stitches to close the wound, she recieved a prescibed a rinse. During the surgery the oral surgen said that she had a cracked tooth root and that the tooth may need extraction. My problem is the fact it required 20 stitches; when Ive heard 4 to 5 at the most! Second why didn’t they just go through with the extraction then if they were unsure of the surgerys sucsess. My wife was awake and she told them to just pull it! They were insistant on saving the tooth but were unsure of the sucsess! 20 stitches, no prescribed penicilin or pain killers either at 1st.

The tooth/jaw became majorly infected 3 days later and needed draining and penicilin was prescribed. 2 days more a fever developed and she became sick. The surgeon was notified and my wife was told it would need extraction. The Endodonic surgen said she doesn’t pull teeth but found 1 for her.
